Wegovy (semaglutide) is medication approved for the treatment of overweight and obesity. It works by suppressing appetite, thus causing weight loss. The active ingredient semaglutide also helps regulate blood sugar levels.
Semaglutide solution in a pre-filled injection pen
0.25mg to 2.4mg
Wegovy has been specially developed for weight loss. Wegovy contains the active ingredient semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist, which helps to reduce hunger and leads to a reduced calorie intake. The medication is intended for adults with a BMI ≥30, or ≥27 in the presence of weight-related disorders. Wegovy is given once a week by subcutaneous injection.
The injection pen contains 4 doses, which are injected once a week. The treatment starts with a low dose and is gradually increased to 2.4 mg per week.
Once a week, inject the solution under the skin (in the abdomen, upper arm, or thigh). To do this, choose a fixed day of the week. The dosage is gradually increased:
- Week 1-4:0.25 mg
- Week 5-8:0.5 mg
- Week 9-12:1 mg
- Week 13-16:1.7 mg
- From week 17:2.4 mg
If you miss a dose: administer within 5 days. Then back to the fixed schedule.

Weight loss medication is for adults with a BMI of 30 or higher (obesity), or a BMI of 27 or higher in combination with weight-related health conditions such as type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure.
One of our doctors will assess whether medication is suitable for you based on your health situation and medical history.
If the doctor finally decides that the program is not suitable for you, or if you choose not to continue, you will be reimbursed the full amount.

Once the doctor has determined that a prescription treatment is appropriate, they will approve your request and issue a prescription for you.
Our pharmacy will then have the treatment delivered to your home. This is where your weight loss program starts.
No, our care takes place completely asynchronously, so you can complete your online consultation in your own time. We'll save your progress so you can come back later to complete the consultation whenever you want.
